Reverend Dr. Coletta L. Jones, Senior Pastor

Pastor Coletta L. Jones was born in Washington, DC to the late Bishop Raymond and Mother Burnetta Jones.  She attended the District of Columbia Public Schools.  Pastor Jones is married to her husband of almost 45 years, Elder Ronald P. Jones and they are the proud parents of four children and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  In 1964, she accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior and in 1972 was called to the ministry and preached her initial sermon in September of 1972.  Pastor Jones attended Morgan State University and Columbia Union College to further her knowledge of God and in Religious Studies.  Her educational goals were realized when she received her Bachelors Degree, Master’s Degree and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Breakthrough Bible College.

Pastor Jones has served in many areas and offices at Mt. Carmel Christian Faith Center (New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church) for over 44 years.  The mantel of Pastor was passed to her from her father, the late Bishop Raymond Jones, Sr., in October of 1997.  She operates in many gifts of the spirit and the five-fold ministry.  Pastor Jones is a non-compromising woman of God on whom the anointing rests heavily.  She is not afraid to speak out on issues for which she has a strong conviction even though others may not agree with her.  Her ability to bring out hidden truths from scripture has given her ministry a delightful freshness.  Her revolutionary style of preaching has destroyed many myths and strongholds associated with Christianity and the Body of Christ. She pastors along with her husband one of the fasting growing innovative ministry in the Southeast Washington, DC area.   She ministers to Men and Women of Color, and the entire family on issues relevant to the family in the 21st century

She serves as Treasurer on the Board of the Collective Banking Group, which is an affiliation of ministers from the metropolitan area whose primary goals are the financial issues of the churches.  She also served as Secretary on the Board of FBCAP which is an affiliate of Pastors that worked together to improve the conditions of the Petworth area.   She has been nominated twice for Who’s Who of Women…

Pastor Coletta Jones is a woman of God that has decided that she will do what God has commanded.  She is not restricted by criticism or nay sayers of any kind.  Even when she was instructed by God to move Mt. Carmel from the location that she had been for well over 40 years (N.W., D.C. ) to a location that was unfamiliar and where He said, “has a people there that want what He has given her”.  She did not hesitate.  Pastor Jones packed up and now, The Rock Christian Church is in S.E. Washington, D.C. where she can build a community-oriented church focusing on the whole person and establish ministries that address social and economic problems, as well as the spiritual decay of the Black communities.
